Community, Teamwork and Local Spirit: Sci-Fleet Hino’s Ongoing Support of Nerang RSL Hino Touch Football Club
At Sci-Fleet Hino, supporting local communities has always been about more than trucks. It’s about investing in the people, families and organisations that help communities thrive. That commitment has been on full display through Sci-Fleet Hino’s long-standing partnership with the Nerang RSL Hino Touch Football Club, a relationship that began when the club was officially formed in 2021 and continues to grow today.
From Sideline Parents to a Thriving Community Club
The club’s story began well before it had an official name. Like many grassroots sporting organisations, it started with a group of dedicated parents supporting their children’s passion for touch football in the Gold Coast region. Among those parents was Sci-Fleet Hino Parts Manager, Gavin Gibson, a long-serving member of the Sci-Fleet Hino team and passionate advocate for junior sport. As involvement grew, so did the vision for creating a structured club that could support players of all ages and abilities. In 2021, that vision became a reality. Recognising the positive impact the club could have on local families and young athletes, Sci-Fleet Hino stepped forward as the inaugural major sponsor. The partnership helped establish the club officially, which was originally known as Hino Touch.
A New Chapter with Nerang RSL
In 2022, the club received another significant boost when the Nerang RSL joined the partnership. The additional support provided the club with the backing of an established constitution and strengthened its long-term future, leading to the club being renamed the Nerang RSL Hino Touch Football Club. The collaboration brought together two organisations with a shared focus on community, participation and supporting local families.
Helping the Team Stay on the Move
As the club has continued to expand, so too has the need for reliable transport. To assist with transporting equipment and supporting travel to games and training sessions, Sci-Fleet Hino recently provided the club with a Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric truck. An official handover was held at Sci-Fleet Hino, where members of the club's committee took delivery of the vehicle on behalf of the organisation. The Hybrid Electric truck will play an important role in helping the club manage equipment logistics while showcasing innovative transport technology within the local community.
